Monks are men & women who have left society behind so that they might shape their minds and bodies into weapons. All monks strive to discipline their minds and bodies by a strict diet, meditation and avoidance of the “finer” things in life that make a person weak and dependent. Because of their refined discipline there are a number of restrictions that monks place upon themselves. Monks may never have more money than is necessary for training and room and board. Extra money will be donated to a local temple, the poor, or some other group. Monks will not give extra money to their traveling companions. Monks may never have more than three magic items, and they will never wear magic gauntlets. Monks will never wear any armor other than furs or clothing armor, and they will never use a shield other than a large round. Monks may not use a shield beyond rank four. Monks must give at least 10% of their money to their temple for the upkeep of their brothers who remain in prayer and contemplation. Monks must be obedient to their Master, and are required to give an annual report to their community once per year. If a monk fails to report his activities he is black-listed and will receive no further training and will be hunted down to be brought back to the community for proper punishment. Monks do not have to pay for advancing in ranks as a monk, and may call upon the help of their community once per year in a particular endeavor or mission. This help may be in the form of information or the assistance of other monks in the completion of a mission. Their Master or the head of the Monastery will deem the nature of the help to be given. Most monks will not willing start a fight except to protect the innocent. While not a pacifist, they do not make it a point to go looking for fights to prove their mettle. They believe their will be plenty of opportunities to hone their abilities. Each rank of monk comes with certain titles and abilities.
