DRAGOON
Dragoon is often a name given to heavily armored
troops in service to a noble or military leader. Few
people realize that there is a hidden class of dragoons
that exist to serve dragons. Not all dragons seek the
service of mortals, but some realize that there is value
in having formidable allies or capable servants. Good
dragons tend to look at dragoons as reliable allies and
appetencies where as evil dragons see them as
powerful servants. Dragoons are still heavily armored
fighters, but now work for or with their master.
One may become a dragoon by either being an
offspring of a dragon or by achieving enough ability
and power (becoming an adventurer) to merit the
notice of a dragon. One must possess an MA of 10 as
well in order to utilize the powers of a dragoon.
Perhaps the hardest thing about becoming a dragoon
is finding your master. Good dragons are receptive to
dragoons, but look for certain qualities in their
dragoons depending upon the type of dragon one
serves. Evil dragons will more then likely kill someone
seeking to become a dragoon unless they happen to
be an offspring. Non-offspring petitioners had best find
a good balance between groveling and showing
potential to avoid being killed.
Dragon’s Lair: In order for one to become a dragoon they must endure a ritual of becoming steeped in their
patron’s essence. The ritual takes an entire night and the petitioner remains in the presence of his patron
breathing in the fumes of the lair as well as the very breathe of the dragon. Such prolonged exposure is potentially
dangerous. At then end of the ritual the petitioner must roll under 3 X EN (4 X EN if you are the offspring) or pass
into a coma.   If you pass into a coma you may not become a dragoon, and must roll again in 24 hours to come out
of the coma or die. Often times an evil dragon will simply eat anyone who fails to come out of a coma.
It is unknown to sages why dragons will only chose fighters to be dragoons, but mages are unable to receive
training. Dragoons again +2% per rank to their primary weapon and +1 damage at ranks 1, 3, 6, and 9.

Rank 1: Draconic Senses, expend 1 FT to increase IV by 5 and all PC rolls by two factors higher. This power lasts
for 1 minute. The dragoon is immune to fear.

Rank 2: Fearsome Aura, by spending 2 FT a dragoon may generate a fearsome aura around himself that will
cause those facing him to roll on the fright table. The effect last for one pulse and effects anyone facing the front
of the dragoon. Opponents behind him do not notice the illusionary transformation. They must roll under MR to
resist.

Rank 3: Draconic speech: Spend 1 FT to be able to converse in the draconic tongue for 1 hour.

Rank 4: Extra strike in melee with primary weapon. Elemental Resistance, the dragoon now gain elemental
resistance +20 MR and ignore the first 10 points of damage versus the element of his patron. (Fire for red, electric
for blue and so on.)  The dragoon gains the talent of resist pain and witchsight.

Rank 5: Spirit link with patron, by concentrating for 2 pulses a dragoon may mentally link with his patron to seek
information or advice. This ability cost 2 FT to use. The link lasts 5 minutes. If you attack they automatically lose IV
that pulse. Draconic leap, you may make one attack which is a leaping attack (Up to full TMR)  at -20% but +6
damage and causing your opponent to fall prone unless they roll under 2 X AG. If done with a pole weapon the
-20% is negated. +20% MR vs mind based spells.

Rank 6: Eye of the Dragon, your gaze now has the power to keep someone rooted in place if they fail to roll under
2 X WP. While held by your gaze they may not attack, nor may you attack them, but you may question them. The
gaze has a range of 100 feet before they are no longer effected by it. Deflect thrown weapons at 2/3 % to strike,
deflect missile weapons at ½ % to strike. +6 damage with primary weapon vs. dragons that are opposed to your
patron.

Rank 8: Burning Rage, the dragoon gains a breathe weapon similar to his patron. This ability may be used up to
three times a day, but each use drains the dragoon of 4 FT.
Black        Line of acid, 60 feet long,  D+6, 30% or ruining armor & weapons
Blue        Line of lightning, 60 feet long, D+10, automatically stuns
Green        Cone of acidic gases, 30 feet long D+6, 30% of causing blindness
Red        Cone of fire, 30 feet long D+10, ignites flammables, 20% or ruining liquids
White        Cone of frost, 30 feet long D+8, causes slowness, 20% or ruining liquids
Brass        Line of fire, 60 feet long, D+8, ignites flammables, 20% or ruining liquids
Bronze        Line of lighting, 60 feet long, D+8, automatically stuns
Copper        Line of acid, 60 feet long, D+6, 30% or ruining armor & weapons
Gold        Cone of fire, 30 feet long, D+10, ignites flammables, 20% or ruining liquids
Silver        Cone of frost, 30 feet long, D+10, causes slowness, 20% or ruining liquids

Rank 9: Extra strike with primary weapon.  Patron’s protection, you may heal your fatigue by transferring fatigue
from your patron by evading for one pulse in combat. This ability may be used once per day with no consequence,
if used more once per day each use requires a roll of 3 X EN to avoid being stunned for one turn by the influx of
draconic power. The patron can also simply deny you the fatigue by not allowing the transfer to happen.

Rank 10: Draconic form, you and the GM must develop an alternative form at this final stage along with the
abilities that accompany the form. In order to achieve this final rank one must imbibe the blood of his patron. Such
an act can be lethal; the dragoon must roll under 3 X EN to safely drink the blood of the dragon.  If successful the
dragoon may assume this form at will up to two times a day. If not successful, you die.

Dragoons do not have to pay for any additional upkeep on a yearly basis, but must meet the expectations of their
patron. Evil dragons will expect money, magic items or the fulfillment of some quest. Good dragons expect a certain
ethical code to be followed and the completion of quests that the dragon gives to the dragoon.
