DEEP RAIDER
Deep Raiders are the plunderers of the Underdark. As much as the surface world dreads the appearance of those from deep below the surface, so they dread the appearance of Deep Raiders. The vast majority of Deep Raiders are dwarves and gnomes. Other races are occasionally found in their ranks, but these races have a deep hatred of evil that dwells in the dark. Deep Raiders make it their goal to strike first before an invasion of the surface world can be mounted. Raiders dedicate themselves to hunting and eradicating Drow, Duergar, Mind Flayers and other residents of the Underdark. Others might journey below the surface for gold and riches, Raiders are more intent on revenge and bloodshed. Raiders are convinced that the Underdark has so warped its residents that negotiations, peace or even a truce is out of the question. Deep Raiders often act as the vanguard of dwarven, gnomish or other invasions of the Underdark. All Deep Raiders were an emblem on their shield or the chest of the armor; it is an emblem of a burning sun. Deep Raiders know the denizens of the Underdark hate the sun more than anything, and this simple emblem is to remind that that the light of the sun can reach them even there.
