STONEGRUNT
Stonegrunts were made by the dwarves in the long distant past to assist them in
battle.   The dwarves had fashioned the Stonegrunts to assist them in battle
against a drow invasion of the under world. Naerrus and Narrus admired the work
of the dwarves and bestowed life upon them. The dwarves were eventually
destroyed in the battle but the invasion was halted before the drow emerged from
the under world.  Everyone thought that the Stonegrunts had perished with their
creators, but from time to time a stonegrunt emerges from the under world after
freeing itself from its underground prison.
Stonegrunts look like 8 foot tall stone golems with the facial features of a dwarf
but without any hair.   Basically speaking stonegrunts are self-conscious and
self-aware golems.  Being a self-aware golem comes with immense benefits and
some sever draw backs.    When they were created more attention was given to
making stonegrunts formidable opponents and not real functioning beings.   They
possess somewhat simple personalities and tend to be stubborn about the
opinions they hold. Stonegrunts are by no mean stupid, just not overly concerned
about complexity. Stonegrunts are not cut out to be scholars, and skills that
involve any real degree of book work are beyond their limited attention. They
enjoy eating and drinking and social gatherings with friends.   They tend to divide
the world into those who are good and friendly and those that are evil and bad.
They have a particular admiration for dwarves and gnomes and tend to get along
better with them that with anyone else. Stonegrunts are willing to give anyone a
chance, but they do not like being thought of as stupid or being played for the
fool.  Stonegrunts are honest to a fault and telling a lie is beyond them.  They
also become enraged when they have been deceived by another and will go to
great ends to punish liars. Stonegrunts cannot swim; thankfully they do not need
to breath except to speak.  What stonegrunts do have going in their favor is the
fact that they are very strong, very durable and do not age.

1. Stonegrunts do not need to breathe to survive.  They cannot drown, suffocated
or be poisoned by fumes.
2. Stonegrunts have the night vision of dwarves.
3. Stonegrunts need to eat and drink like regular living things, but can enter a
state of hibernation that can last centuries.  They need to eat and drink in order
for their body to repair itself, but can go a month without food or water as long as
they sustain no damage.
4. Stonegrunts must sleep to repair fatigue damage, but otherwise do not need to
sleep.
5. They receive two weapons at ½ the required exp.
6. They receive Mechanician at ½ the required exp but may not build finely
geared items.  (Think big engineering, masonry and the like as their field of
expertise.)
7. Stonegrunts are prohibited from learning the following skills: Acrobats,
Assassin, Holy Knight, Military Scientist, Merchant, Monk, Navigator, Sage, Spy &
Thief
8.  Stonegrunts must pay 50% more if the learn the following skills:  Bounty
Hunter, Cavalier, Horsemanship (And then only an elephant or stronger can
serve as a mount.)
9. Stonegrunts take ½ (after being absorbed by natural armor) damage from
class A weapons but are immune to grievous injuries caused by them.
10. Stonegrunts have a natural armor that may improve with time and training.
Their natural armor starts off at 8 and by expending 1000 exp they may raise it a
point up to a total of 12.   Beyond that they must spend 3000 exp per point of
damage up to a total of 18.
11. Stonegrunts do not and will not wear armor, but they may have their skin
enchanted by a competent alchemist and mage.  The process for enchanting is
as costly as manufacturing the armor itself.
12. Stonegrunts use the same height and weight table as greater orcs but weigh
5 times as much.
13. Stonegrunts do not make any rolls on the bogie table.
