Lunars are sly and dangerous shapechangers. They possess two
forms, although rumors abound of powerful lunars that have
discovered a third form. Lunars have a social form which is
humanoid and a hunting form which is lupine. Unlike lycanthropes,
lunars are not dependent upon the phases of the moon nor is their
and beast existence. The strongest bond for a lunar is the family
unit, and they can be very loyal and supportive of family members.
Lunars value and respect the earned reputation of others. Lunars
do not have any laws other than the laws a nature, meaning that
ones takes no more than one can defend, and that one’s
reputation truly is a matter of life and death.
Lunars typically avoid direct combat, preferring to shadow their
opponents and attacking only when they feel they have a good
advantage in the fight. Lunars prefer to fight in wild form unless
they possess magic items that give them an advantage in
humanoid form. The wild form of a lunar is about the size of a
timber wolf, although the features are not canine. A wild lunar
retains the four yellow eyes and sharp teeth of the social form, but
the jaw and face lengthen into a snarling maw. Wild lunars have
thick black fur and retractable claws like the great cats. They may
not use weapons in wild form, but they can still cast spells.
The social form of a lunar is lean and slender, with four eyes, pale
white skin and a long snaky prehensile tail. A lunar’s face in this
form is long and slightly canine with sharp, pointed teeth and feral
ears. Their eyes are pale and yellow and give them outstanding
sight in the dark, but they are very sensitive to sun light and other
bright lights.
Lunars are very private about their society and suspicious of
strangers. They do not have good relations with members of other
races, although they seem to get along better with anyone smaller
then themselves because they are not seen as a threat. Lunars
live about 80 years.
1. Direct sunlight limits their sensitive eyes to a range of 25ft. Beyond that targets are blurred (-20% with ranged
weapons, but not spells) up to 150ft away and past that they are not seen by lunars. Lunars possess perfect night
vision Perfect night vision works automatically and allows them to see in the night as if it were daylight
2. Heighten Sense of Smell: In wild form there is a 4 X PC chance that a lunar can identify creatures that have
frequented the area. They can also tell if these creatures are within 500 ft range. In Open areas lunars can sniff the
ground to track scent up to a day old 5 X PC roll every mile. (Once scent is lost it is lost forever.)
3. It takes a pulse for lunars to shapechange, and all items carried fall to the ground. Lunar smiths have engineered
an armor that can survive the transformation and it has the same cost and abilities of mesh armor. Regular it will take
1 point of damage from the transformation into wild form and fall to the ground. Lunars never wear full plate armor.
4. In their wild form a lunar’s PS, EN and FT are increased by 50%. Their TMR is increased by 4 and their natural
armor is 6. Their bite has a base of 60% +5 and may be used in melee or close combat. Their claws have a base of
2 X MD and begin with +3 damage.
5. Lunars can communicate in a very guttural form of common when in wild form as well as having their own
specialized communication of howls.
6. Lunars make one roll on the bogie table.
Lunars:
PS +1 MD +1 AG -1 MA +4 WP -1 EN +1 FT +2 PC = 12 MR +15%
