Luminous were once an elf like race that was involved in a prolong
battle with evil. As their numbers were dwindling the Gods granted the
remaining Luminous the power to combat evil and the undead. Where
as undead have the power to drain life, luminous have to power to
restore and heal others. The infusion of divine energy into the
Luminous altered the race significantly. Much of their facial feature
disappeared and their entire body began to glow with their new powers.
They are no longer capable of eating in a normal fashion and must
hold food in their hands to transform it into energy that is then
absorbed into their bodies. They can still talk, but they have no mouths,
only a face with eyes as the distinguishing characteristic.
Luminous make their presence known wherever they travel and they
are not afraid of drawing attention. Luminous are generally welcome in
any city accept one with a strong evil presence or ruled by cults of
demon worshipers. More often then not they dwell with either humans
of elves, but some have taken up residence with the other races. Once
the initial fascination with them has disappeared the Luminous goes
about his or her business of rooting out evil. Keenly aware that their
presence is both fascinating and intimidating Luminous avoid most
social occasions. They know that their method of eating and drinking is
somewhat disturbing so they are not fond of attending dinners or
frequenting taverns. More often than not if they are present in such
areas it is to serve as a guard or listen to rumors. The only races that
Luminous have a difficult time dealing with tend to be orcs, drow,
duergar and fire and frost giants.
Luminous are obsessed with the eradication of evil and will go to no
end in confronting evil when it is found. Most are drawn to become
Templars for one of the gods or titans. Others are drawn to take
Healer and assist others in their confrontations with evil and darkness.
Luminous have a particular hatred for undead and will often frequent
crypts, ruins and graveyards in their desire to stamp out these affronts
to life. Luminous are not greedy but often accumulate large sums of
money in order to purchase stronger weapons or raise armies to
confront widespread evil.
1. Luminous make take one sword or hafted weapon at ½ the required
exp.
2. Javelin at ½ the required exp.
3. Javelin of Light: Luminous have the ability to create a Javelin of
Light by expending 1 FT. These Javelins have +10% and +3 damage
but only effect undead & demons. The range on the Javelin is double
that of a normal javelin and it dissipates after striking opponent if it is
thrown. Luminous may throw a javelin every pulse if they have
sufficient FT to generate one. If a Luminous is willing to pay 3000 exp
he or she can give the javelin the ability to effect any opponent.
4. Luminous may take either Healer or Priest at ½ the required exp.
5. Immune to the effects of the lesser undead, and may resist life
draining effects of greater undead by rolling under MR.
6. Immune to poison and infection and to fright table and spells or
abilities that induce fear.
7. Radiate light: Luminous naturally radiate light from their bodies and
give off light as bright as a large lantern. Luminous may try to dim the
natural radiance of their bodies by rolling under 3 X WP. It takes them
one full minute to dim the glow of their body to the point where it does
not radiate light. They do not have night vision.
8. Natural Empathy: As beings that possess divine energy Luminous
may heal others by touch. For every FT a Luminous sacrifices he or
she may heal another of 2 FT points. They may also give beings a
chance to resist poison or stop bleeding by allowing them to roll under
3 x EN after the touch of a Luminous. Luminous may not repeatedly
touch a person in order to help them resist poison or stop bleeding,
either the first attempt works or it does not.
9. Regeneration: Luminous regenerate FT at the rate of 1 per pulse,
they regenerate EN at the rate of 1 per minute.
10. Luminous may not be Necromancers, Crypt Lords, Black Mages or
in Greater Summonings.
11. Luminous do not make any rolls on the bogie table.
